Good Trouble Lives On
Help us make history this Freedom Summer.
Good Trouble Lives on Weekend — July 17-19, 2026
1965
In 1965, John Lewis joined more than 600 people to march from Selma to Montgomery, AL to fight for voting rights.
Thanks in part to their hard work, in August, President Johnson signed the 1965 Voting Rights Act into law.
2026
In April 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled (6-3) in Louisiana v. Callais — significantly narrowing the scope of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.
While never perfect, the VRA was a critical protection for all citizens.
We are not standing by. Join us.
In May, True North Action Alliance Boston joined with a coalition of other local activist groups to organize and host the All Roads Lead to the South rally at the Embrace Statue on Boston Common. In just three days, our members worked alongside our coalition members to plan and execute an event that drew over 100 people and plenty of media attention focused on voting rights.
We continue that work now by joining forces again with some of the same coalition partners to plan events for the Good Trouble Lives On weekend this July 17-19.
See activities below and check back often for updates.
Your vote matters. If it didn’t, why would some people keep trying to take it away?

A growing coalition of Boston and Massachusetts organizations is proud to present a virtual screening of Love, Joy & Power: Tools for Liberation, a feature-length documentary about the co-founders of the Black Voters Matter Fund and the voter outreach work they did leading up the 2020 election.

A core principle behind all Good Trouble Lives On events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
